When do you step down as a skip? Do you ever stop being a skip?
You know it is time to step down as a skip when you cause more damage to your score than the opposition does. You are lying a couple of shots and its your turn to play, it is a simple draw and you are too heavy and chip one or both away. You need to take out a stone to remove the opposition's only shot and you instead promote it to give them a steal of one. I think you start to get the picture, the team have given you a sound platform to go and win the end and if you are lucky a single shot is counted, if not at least a couple for the opposition. It's not that you aren't making the right decisions, you are but your play is letting the team down. Time to graciously stand aside and let the budding new talent step up and give it a try. Get back to practicing and support the new skips whenever you can, you know what it feels like. Just don't start acting like the skip and undermining them.
